Israel, the world’s dumbest country?

What Israel did this week in its ‘prisoner’ swap with the terrorist Hizbullah is absolutely beyond belief.

To sum it up, Israel sent over 5 convicted terrorists (one an infamous murderer of 4) and the bodies of 199 terrorists (one aided in the murder of 35). And what did Israel get back? The bodies of two murdered soldiers and information on missing navigator Ron Arad – wait – there was supposed to be new information on Arad (missing since 1986) but Israel didn’t seem to mind that none was handed over.

Also, when it comes to the 2 Israeli soldiers, weren’t we told many times by the Israeli Govt., Red Cross, UN and Jesse Jackson that the two were alive?

Here are the key parts from a must read by David Bedein at Israelinsider.com titled “Time to face facts: Regev and Goldwasser were murdered in captivity.”

July 16th 2008: Exactly two years ago, a few days after Goldwasser and Regev were captured, the Israel government cabinet secretary Attorney Yisrael Maimon, convened a press briefing following the Israel government cabinet meeting, which this reporter attended, in which Maimon reported to the media that the Goldwasser and Regev were captured alive.

Maimon held at least 12 more briefings over the next few months in which he declared that Goldwasser and Regev were captured alive.

Maimon told the media that he relied on Israeli intelligence data which confirmed that the two Israeli POW’s were captured alive.

Rev. Jesse Jackson, acting as an independent envoy, along with the Red Cross and the UN, all confirmed that Israeli POW’s Regev and Goldwasser were alive.

Let’s not forget that another Islamic terrorist group, HAMAS, has been holding Gilad Shalit hostage for over two years. HAMAS, commenting on Israel’s swap with Hizbullah has already announced that they will be upping their demands for his release. Here are some other comments from Israel’s ‘negotiating partners’ on Wednesday’s swap:

  • HAMAS representatives said this “showed that the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers was the only way to secure the release of Arab prisoners.”
  • HAMAS Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh even changed his wording from 1,000 prisoners for Shalit to THOUSANDS.
  • Fatah / Palestinian Authority officials in Ramallah said the deal “sent the message that negotiations alone would never secure the release of prisoners from Israeli jails.”

We also must not forget that every level of Israel’s security establishment from the IDF to MOSSAD strongly advised the government against the swap. Even then, only 3 of the 25 Israeli cabinet ministers voted against the swap.

Now let’s take a look at the disgraceful welcome Kuntar, the cold blooded murderer of two small children, their father and a policeman, received when he was returned to Lebanon.

The Lebanese government closed all offices and declared a national day of celebration. After being handed over at Lebanon’s southern border, Kuntar and the other terrorists were taken by two Lebanese Army helicopters and a U.N. Interim Forces in Lebanon helicopter to Beirut International Airport, where they were met on the red carpet by President Michel Suleiman, Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and other government officials.

Suleiman called them “our dear liberated heroes” and said Lebanon “feels very proud as we welcome back the heroic resistance fighters who were released from the Israeli occupation.”  He continued “We also feel proud of the martyrs whose bodies were returned here today.” (One of whom participated in the hijacking of a tourist bus in which 37 people including 12 children were murdered.)

Tens of thousands of Lebanese cheered, waved flags, threw confetti, and set off fireworks as Hezbollah staged a rally to celebrate their “victory” over Israel.

Mahmoud Abbas, the “moderate” leader of the Palestinian Authority, sent “blessings to Samir Kuntar’s family.” PA spokesman Ahmad Abdul Rahman sent “warm blessings to Hizbullah… on the return of the heroes of freedom… headed by the great Samir Kuntar.”

The Palestinian Authority spokesman took the opportunity to vow that the Fatah party “will continue to struggle in the way of the pure Martyrs, until the state is liberated and the Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital.” Kuntar, acknowledging the adulation of the crowd, took the microphone and declared, “I return from Palestine only to go back to Palestine.”

Now, if Israel did something like bomb the Kuntar reception at the Beirut Airport, I could understand letting him go. Or, maybe they would wait until later on in the day for his meeting with Hizbullah chief Nasrallah before striking. But, no again. Maybe it’s because on Tuesday July 15th, Israeli President Shimon Peres pardoned Samir Kuntar for his murders. Wow, pardoning an unrepentant murderer of 4 (including a 4 year old whose skull he crushed with his rifle – which he used to kill her father) against the wishes of the victims’ families.

Way to go Israel. Allow another murdering terrorist to be turned into a Super Star in an enemy country on its border.

Papelbon Calls for Ball in All Star Game

Jonathan Papelbon is an f-ing moron. That he has the audacity to even suggest he should close the All-Star game at Yankee Stadium not only shows his lack of class, but a complete ignorance of the numbers.

Let’s take a look:

G IP H R ER HR BB SO W L SV BS WHIP ERA
Papelbon 41 40.2 32 16 11 3 7 51 3 3 28 4 0.96 2.43
Rivera 38 42.1 23 5 5 2 4 50 4 3 23 0 0.64 1.06

So, while Rivera has pitched more innings, Papelbon has given up 30% more hits, 300% more runs (though only 200% as many earned runs) and, though he has 1 more strikeout, he also has nearly double the walks and has given up 1 more HR. Finally, in the all-important category of Saves, while Papelbon does have 5 more than Rivera, he’s also blown 4 while Mo hasn’t blown any and has picked up 4 wins along the way!

All I can say is that I’ll be one of the many thousands booing loudly tonight when Papelbon is announced and later brought into the game.
